Stone Gardens Farm CSA We are now accepting CSA members for the 2009 growing season! This year we are offering only full season shares, (no summer shares as we did in 2008), with 2 days, either Tuesday or Friday, to pick up your shares. Choice of days will be granted on a first come first serve basis and cannot be changed. Tuesday pickups will start June 2^nd and end October 27^th Friday pickups will start June 5^th and end October 30^th The program will run for 22 weeks and maybe the first week in November if the season allows. Each week you will receive a box full of a variety of what we are harvesting that week.
	What is CSA?    It is short for Community Supported Agriculture. How it works:   You buy an annual share of the farms harvest.  Each week on either Tuesday or Friday between 10-6, you come and pick up your share of that week’s harvest.   We start the first week of June and run through the end of October.  The program runs around 22 weeks.   In June, crops are usually lettuce, scallions, dandelion greens, escarole, broccoli raab, some herbs, peas, beets with greens, collards, spinach, swiss chard, radishes, and more!   As the season goes by, we pick more and more.  Greenhouse tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, pickles, beans, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower all start to being harvested by the end of June. In July our field tomatoes, onions, peppers, eggplants, and of course our sweet corn are ready!   Our peach, plum, and apple trees produce abundant amounts of fruit, so when in season, fruit is available too.  We sometimes provide fruit from other farms.   Fall brings leeks, potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnip greens, turnips, kale, brussel sprouts, radishes, lettuce, spinach, and winter squash. Since the demand for eggs in CSA boxes has outgrown our flock of chickens eggs will be provided from another farm, not ours.   Also available are vegetable plants, flowers, hanging baskets, corn stalks, or mums, and fresh meat chickens, at request.   The program cost per share is $600, $300 per ½ share. ½ payment due with completed application – ½ due April 2009   The weekly share is a box full of fresh vegetables worth approximately $27.50/week (which is $600/22 weeks).   Download the CSA application PDF format Completed application to stonegds@comcast.net or mail with check payable to: Stone Gardens Farm 83 Sawmill City Road Shelton, CT 06484
